Allyn International Announces Certification of Two Licensed Customs Brokers

Kyle Couchois and Michael Kader are Licensed Custom Brokers, certified by the US Customs and Border Protection. Both are employed in the customs department of Allyn International, a Fort Myers-based customs, tax and supply chain consulting firm.

FORT MYERS, Fla. (Feb. 17, 2016) – Allyn International Services, Inc. (Allyn) announces the certification of Kyle Couchois and Michael Kader as Licensed Customs Brokers (LCB) by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). In October of 2015, Couchois and Kader passed an 80-question exam administered by CBP.

Upon passing the exam, Couchois and Kader were each required to submit an application for license to their CBP port director and undergo a multiagency background investigation. The investigation included a fingerprint analysis, review of character references, credit reports and any arrests.

“The customs broker exam covers areas such as classification, country of origin, trade agreements, anti-dumping, valuation and drawback,” commented Allen Trevett, Allyn CEO and LCB. “It’s a comprehensive, difficult exam and having two additional team members pass exemplifies our in-house expertise and the value we bring to our clients. We currently employ seven LCB’s”

Brokers are licensed, regulated and empowered by CBP to assist importers and exporters in meeting Federal requirements governing foreign trade. They must have expertise in entry procedures, admissibility requirements, classification, valuation, duty rates and applicable taxes and fees for imported merchandise. According to the CBP, there are around 11,000 active licensed brokers in the United States.
