Smarter Logistics Decisions with Allyn’s Smart Route
Of the modules that make up the web based Allyn Logistics Application (ALA), Smart Route is perhaps the most universally applicable, as it benefits companies regardless of size, volume or freight profile. Proper and continued use of this tool will lead directly to decreased costs and increased carrier performance, while minimizing leakage due to use of unapproved carriers.
Smart Route simplifies the carrier selection process for the user by allowing them to easily choose the optimal carrier based on the below criteria:
Carriers: Only client approved carriers will appear in the results. This allows clients to actively control what carriers are being used for specific lanes, helps reduce risks, and helps with best cost pricing.
Costs: Choices will be listed starting with least cost; it will also include surcharges and accessorial charges, as they apply.
Transport Mode and Service Levels: Smart Route will list the cost for all of the applicable transport modes and service levels for each carrier. This will allow the user to gauge cost vs. transit time when deciding between air or ocean, or standard vs. deferred.
Transit Time: Smart Route will also list the transit time required per the selected service levels and carrier.
Additionally, Smart Route easily ties into the E-Shipment (auto tender) function of ALA, as well as the Bill of Lading creation functionality. These features will allow a shipper to easily book transportation after they have selected the proper carrier via Smart Route.
While Smart Route is a must for those who are directly managing and routing freight, it can be just as impactful for those involved in quoting, planning, auditing, or freight payment.
With freight rates expected to rise across all modes in 2017, Smart Route will give shippers the boost needed to increase cost effectiveness.
