Shanghai Ranked as Third International Shipping Center

Shanghai has become one of the world's top three shipping centers for the first time in six years and ranked third, second to Singapore and London. According to a municipal government report that evaluates port conditions, shipping services, and general business environment.

Shanghai's improved ranking was mainly due to its high-end shipping services.

Besides software improvement, Shanghai has also been strengthening shipping hardware constructions in terms of port facilities. With container throughput ranking world's first for ten consecutive years, Shanghai has the great advantage to gain global shipping resource allocation.

Close to half of the world's top 100 container lines have opened branches in Shanghai, while Shanghai's shipping insurance business has been growing in full energy.

China has been attaching importance to the development of shipping services and comprehensive shipping resources, striving to improve customs clearance efficiency and reduce logistics costs at ports. Additionally, China's faster economic recovery from the COVID-19 will help Shanghai's economic development and trade promotion to be global shipping centers.

Shanghai needs to continuously deepen the informatization level, strengthen connections with international shipping companies, and take advantage of the construction of the free trade zone to develop its ports.

In the future, Shanghai is likely to surpass London and Singapore as the top international shipping center to support China's strong market potential and the most complete industrial categories in the world.
