NEW Broker Reporting & National Broker Permit Enhancements

As of December 19, 2022, U.S Customs and Border Protection eliminated the Customs Broker District Permit Fee and provided enhancements to the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) Portal. Prior to this change, brokers were required to obtain a District Permit in order to transact customs business for ports belonging to that district. This enhancement has automatically transitioned all brokers with district permits to a national permit, allowing for customs business on a national scope.

In terms of updates to the ACE portal, trade users with broker accounts in the ACE Portal will see a new National Permits tab. Within this tab, users will manage all broker permit information and find tools to manage broker permit compliance. For example, brokers can:

  • Edit address details.
  • Add/edit point of contact information
  • Add/edit employee information
  • View broker plans and documents.

In accordance with the updated broker reporting requirements in 19 CFR 111, the information below may now be updated in the enhanced ACE Portal:

  • New and terminated employee information.
  • Office of record address and record-keeping location address.
  • Designated Recordkeeping Contact information.
  • Customs Business Point of Contact - knowledgeable point of contact during and outside of normal operating hours information.
