Longshoreman Call For Port Shutdowns
The International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) has called for a shutdown of Atlantic and Gulf ports accompanied by a march on Washington aimed at protesting job loss and the impact of decreased port activity.
The main targets of these protests are the Waterfront Commission of New York Harbor and the South Carolina Port Authority. The ILA sees these two organizations as responsible for overregulation and interference that has directly led to the loss of jobs and decreases in economic activity at the ports.
Any such shutdown will greatly affect port operations and bring any activity to a stop.
The date of the protest and March should be announced next week.
