A recent Wisconsin act, L. 2024, A29 (Act 149), effective 03/23/2024, exempts from sales and use tax the sale or other consumption of precious metal bullion. "Precious metal bullion" means coins, bars, rounds, or sheets that contain at least 35% gold, silver, copper, platinum, or palladium and that are marked with weight, purity, and content or that a government authority minted on the basis of weight, purity, and content.

Harvesting Savings

Washington L. 2024, H1757, effective 07/01/2024, creates a sales and use tax exemption on goods and services purchased by eligible farmers. The exemption is in the form of a remittance of up to $10,000 and the eligible farmer must pay all applicable sales and use taxes on items that are considered goods and services. The remittance must be claimed before January 1, 2030. "Eligible farmer" means a farmer performing custom farming services or farm management services.
