Find Out the Latest Trends in Logistics

What's shaping the Logistics industry in 2016?

Fast, Faster, Now: Now-delivery

Even though it has been trending in the logistics industry for quite some time, same-day delivery might have already become yesterday’s news, without ever being fully implemented. Developments may take us from same-day delivery services to now-delivery, meaning delivery of goods ordered via the internet within half an hour. This is what Amazon promises with its new delivery drone. There is not really a distinction between same-day delivery and now-delivery, because even delivery on the same day is not yet fully developed regarding its efficiency. In 2016, some preliminary users will be expecting delivery drones to land on their doorsteps just shortly after clicking the order button.

Mandatory Container Weight Verification

On July 1, 2016, the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) amendment to the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) Convention, stating a mandatory container weight verification requirement, will take effect globally. Weight verification must take place before loaded containers are placed onto a ship for export. The responsibility of verifying a packed container’s weight lies with the shipper or a third party under the shipper’s responsibility. If a container does not have a verified gross mass (VGM), then it will not be loaded onto a vessel.

If you have additional questions on the impact of these regulations on your business please contact Allyn at (239) 489-9900 or sales@allynintl.com.

Migrant Crisis Influences European Transportation

The migrant crisis, which gripped Europe in 2015, brought chaos to many international borders  and is still affecting the transportation industry. The enormous influx of migrants is causing many European countries to question the Schengen Agreement, which enables border-free travel among the majority of EU countries. If the countries re-impose border checks (on a temporary or even permanent basis) supply chains across Europe will be severely impacted by delays.

Allyn International can assist importers no matter the economic outlook, providing Tax, Global Trade Compliance and Logistics packages customized to exceed client expectations in both services and price.
