Coronavirus Update - September 15
Allyn International is committed to providing you with the latest updates during this very fluid and everchanging period. Our goal with the information provided below is to give you at a high-level, a current overview of the most heavily impacted regions.
Global Updates
- Air cargo capacity for non-COVID vaccine-related cargo will shrink to very low levels during the peak of vaccine distribution as carriers will likely allocate capacity. The anticipated vaccine distribution peak is Q1 of 2021.
- In April 2020 the year-over-year disparity for air cargo volumes was a decrease of 41 percent. The month-over-month improvement continues and in August 2020 the gap in international air cargo volumes was a decrease of 17% when compared to August 2019.
The following tables and chart will provide the current cargo transport operational status and capacity levels for
heavily affected countries.
- Limited capacity from Australia to the Americas, Asia Pacific and Europe. Minor container shortages.
- Capacity is available from Japan and UAE
- Capacity is low from South Korea to Europe, Asia Pacific, Middle East, Africa and the Americas. Major container shortages.
- Capacity is very low from India to APAC, Europe, the Middle East and the US. Major container shortages.
- Capacity is low from Brazil across all trade lanes. Moderate container shortages.
- Capacity is available from Singapore across all trade lanes except the Americas, where capacity is tight. Minor to medium container shortages.
United States of America Domestic Trucking Overview – Updated 09.15.2020
- The Labor Day holiday caused a decrease in spot loads; the first since late July.
- The dry van spot rate is currently $2.37 per mile, while flatbed and reefer spot rates are $2.37 and $2.58 respectively.
