Coronavirus Update - November 3
Allyn International is committed to providing you with the latest updates during this very fluid and everchanging period. Our goal with the information provided below is to give you at a high-level, a current overview of the most heavily impacted regions.
Over a dozen European countries have or will soon enter countrywide lockdowns similar to those experienced in the Spring. The severity of the lockdown varies by country and range from full closures of non-essential businesses to businesses operating with limited hours. Schools will remain open in most areas, but people are strongly urged to stay home whenever possible. Essential businesses will remain open and business travel is still currently permitted.
The reinstated lockdowns throughout Europe may cause cargo capacity shortages if ocean liners react similarly to the spring when carriers withdrew 2 million TEU from the market. In an already volatile market, the importance of booking your transport needs as soon as possible including receiving confirmation from carriers remains high.
The following tables will provide the current cargo transport operational status and capacity levels for heavily affected countries.
- Limited capacity from Australia to the Americas, Asia Pacific, Europe and the Middle East. Minor container shortages.
- Limited capacity from Japan to the Americas and the Asia Pacific. Capacity is available from Japan to Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Slight container shortages.
- Capacity is available from the UAE. Minor container shortages.
- Capacity is low from South Korea to Europe, Asia Pacific, and the Americas. Capacity is available to the Middle East and Africa. No container shortages.
- Capacity is very low from India to APAC, Europe, the Middle East and the US. Major container shortages.
- Capacity is very low from Brazil across all trade lanes. Major container shortages.
- Capacity is available from Singapore across all trade lanes except the Americas, where capacity is tight. Minor to medium container shortages.
