Coronavirus Update - June 18
Allyn International is committed to providing you with the latest and most accurate updates during this very fluid and ever-changing period. Our goal with the information provided below is to give you at a high-level, a current overview of the most heavily impacted regions.
Ocean liners have cancelled more than a quarter of all sailings on Asia to Europe and trans-Pacific lanes. According to SeaIntelligence, the blank sailings will remove more than 4 million containers of capacity from the market well into the third quarter. The tighter capacity will likely keep rates at a relatively high level and may create a backlog. Early booking with confirmation is advised to secure your space.
While ocean liners are removing capacity from the market, air cargo capacity, although tight, is increasing as passenger airlines resume limited domestic and international passenger service.
