Allyn International is committed to providing you with the latest updates during this very fluid and ever-changing period. Our goal with the information provided below is to give you at a high-level, a current overview of the most heavily impacted regions.
A surge of COVID-19 cases in Hong Kong has caused a ban on gatherings of more than two people, a total ban on restaurant dining, and a mandate to wear a face mask in all public places. The aforementioned policies will take effect on Wednesday, July 29, and remain in place for a minimum of 7 days.

Global Air Updates

  • After implementing several safety precautions, London Heathrow Airport has added passenger flights to Dubrovnik, Naples, Genoa, Verona, Greece, Newquay, Jersey and Prague.
  • Beginning August 1, several additional countries will be resuming international passenger air travel. New health screenings and safety precautions have been implemented to give passengers the confidence to travel again.

Global Ocean Updates

  • Trans-Atlantic container rates from Europe to the US have dropped 15% over the last five weeks but service providers are expecting weak volume growth in the second half of 2020 as shippers are reluctant to large scale inventory replenishments.
  • Waterway usage fees typically imposed on vessels using national waterways in India will be waived for the next three years. The waiver is intended to promote inland waterways as a cheaper mode of transport.
  • China-US West Coast container prices dipped slightly last week but the rate is 75% higher than the same period last year.

Global Road Transport Updates

  • Essential workers crossing the Canada-US border are required to wear a non-medical mask or face covering. The policy includes truck drivers.
  • Exports from China are experiencing a slight customs delay, but imports have no delay.
  • UAE seaports and airports have strict health screenings on all truck drivers operating in those areas.

The following tables and charts will provide the current cargo transport operational status for heavily affected countries.
