Coronavirus Update - August 4

Allyn International is committed to providing you with the latest updates during this very fluid and ever-changing period. Our goal with the information provided below is to give you at a high-level, a current overview of the most heavily impacted regions.

The lockdown of containment zones in India has been extended until August 31 and only essential activities are permitted. Areas outside of the containment zones are permitting all activities except in-person schooling, cinema halls, swimming pools, bars, auditoriums, metro rail and sporting events. International passenger travel is also not permitted, except when allowed by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

Global Air Updates

  • Lufthansa has resumed flights to Germany from Birmingham, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
  • The Kittila, Icalo and Kuusamo Airports in Finland will reopen this month. Finnair will be the first airline to resume flight operations.

Global Ocean Updates

  • Global carriers have re-instated sailings on the trans-Pacific west coast for the third quarter.
  • Two South Africa bound vessels are under a two-week quarantine after several crew members tested positive for COVID-19, delaying all remaining calls.

Global Road Transport Updates

  • Beginning August 10, the Malaysia/Singapore border Causeway will re-open for essential business, official travelers and long-term pass holders.
  • Colombia’s borders will remain closed until August 16. Essential transport is permitted.

  • Capacity is available from Japan and UAE
  • Capacity is available from South Korea across all trade lanes except the Americas, where capacity is tight.
  • Capacity is limited from India to APAC, Europe, Middle East and the US.
  • Capacity is available from Singapore across all trade lanes except the Americas; where capacity is tight.

United States of America Domestic Trucking Overview – Updated 08.04.2020

  • US dry van volumes stabilized last week after a few weeks of declines, while the refrigerated and flatbed segments both saw slight increases last week.
  • Capacity shortages due to driver availability may cause backups and delays in transit times.
