Coronavirus Update - April 6

Americas

  • 43 US states are now under stay-at-home orders by their state governments. Essential workers and businesses remain operational.
  • Trucking rates continue to increase as the demand to haul essentials goods increases.
  • Airlines significantly decrease flights to COVID-19 hotspot, New York City.

United States – 337,971 confirmed cases (128% increase since 3.30.2020), 17,582 recovered, 9,654 deaths

EMEA

  • Italy and Spain have reported a decrease in virus deaths; a sign each nation may be passed the virus apex.
  • Spain is expecting to reach the peak of the virus curve this coming weekend.
  • At this time, Germany is expected to lift lockdown restrictions on April 19.
  • Non-essential businesses remain closed throughout the region causing pick-up and delivery delays.

Spain – 135,032 confirmed cases (58% increase since 3.30.2020), 40,437 recovered, 13,055 deaths
Italy – 128,948 confirmed cases (32% increase since 3.30.2020), 21,815 recovered, 15,887 deaths
Germany – 100,186 confirmed cases (57% increase since 3.30.2020), 28,700 recovered, 1,590 deaths
France – 93,780 confirmed cases (107% increase since 3.31.2020), 16,354 recovered, 8,093 deaths

APAC

  • Initially, the movement of non-essential goods was permitted. The Indian government has now restricted transport to essentials only. Individual passes are being issued to businesses that are considered essential.
  • Cross-border road freight from China to Vietnam may experience delivery delays.
  • China is attempting to mitigate further spread of imported COVID-19 cases via their land borders.
  • Japan is likely to declare a state of emergency. Doing so will allow local authorities to issue stay-at-home orders.

China

  • 82,665 confirmed cases (0.5% increase since 3.30.2020), 77,310 recovered, 3,335 deaths

Middle East and Africa

  • Cross-border road freight in Kuwait may experience slight delays. All land borders are closed except for essential goods, including food.
  • UAE land borders are open for transport of essential goods with mild to medium delays.
  • South African airports are operating with a focus on essential goods. Cross-border road freight is severely impacted, and delays and disruptions are very likely. Ocean and freighter capacity is critically low or not available.

Iran
• 60,500 confirmed cases (46% increase since 3.30.2020), 24,236 recovered, 3,739 deaths

Air Cargo Transport – Updated 4.06.2020

  • Cargo-only flights are being added to carrier networks to assist with the mismatch of supply and demand
  • Price increases are expected to continue until mid-April

Please note: the above table displays airport operational updates and does not include carrier capacity data
*Aircraft from mainland China or South Korea will be limited to Tokyo Narita (NRT) and Osaka Kansai (KIX) international airports. Restrictions apply until
at least the end of April.
** Atlanta and New York City airports are operational for cargo, but staffing reductions are impacting efficiency. No freighters are flying in Denver as a
result of state government restrictions.
*** Restricted operations in India are impacting cargo flights; freighters are operating with reduced capacity.
**** Madrid terminals are closed expect for essential goods. All other are operating normally for cargo only operations.

Air Freight Capacity by Trade Lane – Updated 04.06.2020

  • Qatar Airways Cargo expanded its network by adding freight-only passenger aircraft to India and the Middle East and full freighter services to Australia.

Ocean Transport –Updated 04.06.2020

  • Carriers are cutting capacity due to increasing lockdowns across major markets.

* Ocean freight from India to Africa has capacity available. All other trade lanes have reduced capacity.

Road and Rail Transport – Updated 04.06.2020

  • Possible trucking delays to South East Asia as a result of temporary border closures. Food and medicalbessentials are not restricted but may be delayed due to border congestion.
