Brazil Port Strike
A Customs strike at all major Brazilian ports began on Monday May, 22 2017. Brazilian customs audit inspectors have decided to strike as a result of a delay in the approval of the Provisional Measure n.765/2016.
The greatest impact will be to those shipments that face inspection by moving through the yellow or red clearance channels. The best way to avoid these channels is to make sure that commercial documents are correct, and match the freight when it comes to weight, dimensions and quantity.
Marine terminals are already seeing delays, and towards the end of the week a substantial backlog is expected. Initial projections have the strike lasting at least a week. Allyn will keep you informed of any new developments as to the conclusion of the work stoppage or the status of the cargo backlog.
