The Second Belt and Road Summit forum was held in Beijing to discuss Chinese President Xi Jinping’s signature infrastructure project that began in 2013 to rebuild ancient trading routes across Eurasia.
When Xi Jinping visited Central Asia and Southeast in September and October of 2013, he raised the initiative of jointly building the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road (hereinafter referred to as the BRI), which have attracted close attention from all over the world. The Belt and Road forum aims to promote the connection between Asian, European and African continents and their adjacent areas. The forum aims to establish and strengthen partnerships among these countries along the Belt and Road. This will promote investment and consumption, create demands and job opportunities, as well as enable them to live in harmony and peace.
Since its commencement six years ago, the BRI has received growing support from around the world and its projects have had a real impact. Flourishing BRI cooperation have allowed for faster trade and investment flows for those who need it as well as more extensive people to people exchanges across Asia, Europe, Africa and beyond.
