MPF Increase in 2018
US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) adjusted certain user fees effective January 1, 2018. In accordance with the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act (FAST Act).
The minimum merchandise processing fee (MPF) will be increased to $25.67 from $25 and the maximum will be raised to $497.99 from $485.
MPF is assessed by CPB for most imports into the US on an ad valorem basis, with the percentage being used to calculate MPF remaining at .3464%.
MPF will be waived for goods that qualify for certain free trade agreements, such as NAFTA.
The MPF for entries under $2,500 will remain at the $2 flat rate.
