Is the 4th Party Logistics (4PL) concept made for you?
There are 2 aspects (qualitative and quantitative) to a 4PL potential study used to determine if an organization and its logisitcs profile is suitable for a 4PL concept and if it would benefit from it.
Qualitative aspect:
Goal is to ensure that Allyn has a good understanding of the businesses CTQ (Critical To Quality) and of the operational and strategic requirements in order to confirm compatibility with a 4PL concept and ensute that the quantitave part of the study will compare "apples with apples".
Quantitative aspect:
This part of the study focuses mainly on analyzing the shipment profile and spend of an organization and determining if this is sufficient for a 4PL set-up and if the 4PL concept will bring a return on investment.
The goal of the analysis is to analyze spend, shipments profiles and recognize patterns and trends as well as determine how the business performed in the past and what possible savings Allyn can achieve. During the qualitative study Allyn will notably analyze the volume and flows to confirm they are sufficient for a 4PL concept to make sense and will compare the client’s historical data to a logistics market snapshot in order to determine potential direct logistics savings which the implementation of a 4PL concept would generate.
Ideally data for a period more than 3 months should be supplied in order to realistically estimate yearly trend and volume. Format and detail of the data can vary grandly - from yearly spend summary to shipment by shipment report, from Excel report to scanned transport invoices.
Data and information protection:
Allyn International Services is fully prepared to sign confidentiality clauses or similar in order to guarantee that the provided data and information will not be used for other purposes than the specific 4PL study.
